(L.A.) Kari Mitchell, 74, Died From a Coke OD

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 74-year-old Black female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Kari Mitchell.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Cocaine Intoxication

Other Significant Conditions: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease; Peripheral Vascular Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 2:34 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 22, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
