(L.A.) Joseph McGiffert, 63, Died on a Metro Train

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 63-year-old Black male who passed out on a Metro train.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Joseph McGiffert of Long Beach.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Alcohol Toxicity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

This was a case of acute alcohol poisoning. The decedent drank too much over a short period of time.

Alcohol deaths can be classified as accidents under the assumption that the sots didn’t intend to kill themselves.

The decedent did have a long history of arrests for public intoxidation.
