(L.A.) Jonathan Mercado, 24, Died at a Bus Stop

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 24-year-old Latino male that occurred at a bus stop.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Jonathan Mercado.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Toxicity

Other Significant Conditions: Alcohol Use, Coronary Artery Disease, Obesity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 10:11 p.m.

The government investigator had initially given the decedent’s full name as Jonathan Mercado Garcia.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in mid-May, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
