(L.A.) John Riojas, 38, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 38-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk in DTLA.

The coroner’s office identified the man as John Riojas.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Sharp-Force Injury of Torso

RIP JOHN ROBERT RIOJAS (April 2, 1987 – January 10, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made early Saturday morning.

LAPD said the decedent was attacked at around 1:55 a.m. near a bar at the intersection of Mateo Street and 7th Street in downtown L.A.
