(L.A.) Joey Casias Sr., 38, Died at a Private Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 38-year-old Caucasian male that occurred at a private residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Joey Casias Sr.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound Of The Chest

RIP JOEY CASIAS SR (September 11, 1983 – December 21, 2021)

“Joey Manuel Casias” was a Good Samaritan who was trying, with others, to detain a suspect who had just attempted a carjacking and burglary in Covina.

His killer was named Trevor Howard Thompson (dob 3/25/87) of Glendora.

Thompson was confronted by citizens for breaking into a parked BMW. Thompson then tried to carjack one of the citizen’s vehicles and then attacked another man.

Casias intervened to try to stop the attack when Thompson shot at the man he was struggling with. Thomson then also shot Casias, who succumbed to the gunshot wound.
