(L.A.) Joe Perez, 18, Died in Montebello

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Joe Perez.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Blunt- and Sharp-Force Trauma of Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

The decedent was attacked by his father with a hatchet at their apartment complex on Lohart Avenue in Montebello. The older man then jumped to his death, completing a murder-suicide.

Police said they arrived on scene at 2:30 a.m.
