(L.A.) Jesus Gutierrez, 31, Died at a Public Library

Case Number: 2024-18066

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Latino male that occurred at a public library.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Jesus Gutierrez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl, Lidocaine, and Ethanol

RIP JESUS GUTIERREZ (September 7, 1993 – November 18, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 10:21 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on February 15, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, polysubstance overdose.

The combination of fentanyl, lidocaine, and alcohol can lead to profound respiratory depression. Each of these substances can independently cause respiratory issues, and their combined effect can be lethal.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Jesus Gutierrez” in public records.
