RIP JESSE DANIEL GUERRERO (March 3, 1994 – April 25, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 2:19 p.m.

The decedent had a recent stint at Impact Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center, aka Impact House, in Pasadena.

For a misdemeanor battery arrest back in March 2024, he just had a pretrial hearing at Compton Courthouse on April 22, 2025, and was scheduled to have a diversion hearing on May 20. He had been released on his own recognizance.

Separate from the above, a citizen’s arrest was made on March 12 in Carson on an allegation of a misdemeanor crime. The authorities merely issued him a citation and told him to show up at the Compton Municial Court on March 14.

Under California law, police can issue a citation (“notice to appear”) for certain misdemeanor offenses, not just infractions. This is authorized by Penal Code sections 853.5 and 853.6, which allow officers to release a person arrested for a misdemeanor on a signed promise to appear in court, rather than booking them into jail.
