(L.A.) Jeremy Flores, 26, Died in Boyle Heights

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 26-year-old Latino male that occurred inside a vehicle in Boyle Heights.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Jeremy Flores.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wounds of Torso, Arm, and Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

The decedent was apparently shot dead by police for having an airsoft MP5 gun.

LAPD responded at around 8:30 a.m. to reports of a man armed with a rifle on Spence Street near 8th Street. They found him inside a white van.

An airsoft MP5 gun is designed to shoot plastic BB pellets specifically, not metallic projectiles. The MP5 here refers to an airsoft replica of the H&K MP5 submachine gun.
