(L.A.) Jenny Zavatsky, 90, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 90-year-old Caucasian female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Jenny Zavatsky. Born in Poland.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma

Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension

RIP JENNY ZAVATSKY (March 25, 1932 – February 4, 2023)

The decedent was behind the wheel of a 2007 Lincoln Continental that drove through a parking lot in the 6400 block of East Spring Street around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, hitting multiple parked vehicles, a few of which struck a 68-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy.

Her vehicle then struck a tree in the 2900 block of Palo Verde Avenue, where firefighters had to extricate Zavatsky from the car.

Paramedics rushed Zavatsky to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The 68-year-old man was taken to a hospital in serious condition, while the 10-year-old boy suffered only minor injuries and was released to his parents.

In 1992, Zavatsky was recorded for an oral history recounting her experience during the Holocaust. Her father was a successful businessman who owned a metal factory in Poland. She was seven years old when war broke out in 1939 and her father was drafted into the Polish army.
