RIP JAMILA ELYSSE MOSS (May 5, 1989 – August 21, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 10:09 a.m.

The decedent was an apparent victim of domestic violence.

Pasadena Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of South Raymond Avenue, near Del Mar Boulevard, at 10:02 a.m. for a “shots fired” call.

Officers located a woman down on the exterior portion of an apartment complex.

She was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers identified an apartment unit within the complex connected to the victim, established a containment around the complex, and determined the suspect was barricaded inside the apartment unit.

SWAT teams, as well as crisis negotiators, from both the Pasadena and Glendale police departments, responded to the shooting scene.

After several hours, which included moments of negotiating, Guary Lonnie Shuford III, 32, surrendered to SWAT officers without incident.

Shuford is on parole for robbery.
