(L.A.) Jacosa Kato, 34, Died in a Hotel/Motel

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 34-year-old “Asian” female that occurred in a hotel/motel.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Jacosa Kato.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 1:23 a.m.

The decedent was an assistant of magician Jonathan Pendragon. She appeared to be partly of Japanese descent. Both her parents were living in Atlanta, Georgia. West McDonough, the current wife of Pendragon and one of the owners of the Magic Castle, was more like a godmother.

She died after falling from the roof of her apartment building. The fatal accident occurred after a night of performing at the Magic Castle.

The known acrobat/aerialist was climbing the fire escape to the roof of a five-story building, which had a ladder from the top landing to the roof. While on the ladder, she lost her grip or footing and fell.
