(L.A.) Ivan Cervantes Cruz, 19, Died in Pasadena

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 19-year-old Latino male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the young man as Ivan Cervantes Cruz of El Monte.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Chest

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 6:26 p.m.

Pasadena PD had responded at around 6:15 p.m. to the 700 block of Rio Grande Street, about a block north of Washington Park. Officers found a man inside a vehicle that had crashed along the north curbline. Paramedics would later declare him deceased at the scene.

The Pasadena Police Department is investigating a fatality that occurred around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in a quiet Pasadena residential neighborhood.

According to the Pasadena Police Department, officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of East Rio Grande Street, near Palm Terrace.

Arriving officers found a vehicle that had crashed along the north curbline. Inside the car, officers discovered an unresponsive male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Officers initially attempted lifesaving measures, followed by paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department. However, the male did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident prompted an immediate follow-up investigation that included detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit (RHU) and an investigator from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

The PPD said the victim is a 19-year-old from El Monte.
