(L.A.) Isaac Marshell, 27, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County has announced the death of a 27-year-old Black male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Isaac Marshell. Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Perry.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Back

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 7:46 p.m.

The decedent’s surname is correctly spelled as Marshell, not Marshall.

On June 27, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Long Beach Boulevard at about 7:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting and located a victim suffering from a wound to his upper body. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old homeless man named Carlos Alberto Jimenez Hernandez was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on July 7 in the area of Anaheim Street and Pacific Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department said. Another suspect had been arrested earlier.

Police say the victim was outside of a business when he was involved in a physical altercation with the two male suspects. The victim left the scene but later returned to the business in his vehicle and parked out front.

While the victim was inside his vehicle, the same two male suspects approached him and assaulted him. During the altercation, one of the suspects shot the victim. Officers arrived on scene shortly after the shooting and apprehended the shooting suspect near the crime scene. The second suspect fled the scene on foot and remains outstanding.

The first suspect was identified as Darrell Brock, 24, a resident of Pennsylvania. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
