(L.A.) Ian Cheng, 22, Died From Gunshots

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 22-year-old Asian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the young man as Ian Cheng.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 12:24 p.m.

The government investigator had initially spelled the decedent’s name as Chang.

LASD said that at around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, officers from the Alhambra Police Department responded to a report of a suicidal male on the 1200 block of South Almansor Street in Alhambra, north of Valley Boulevard and east of Garfield Avenue.

A man allegedly armed with a knife was shot by police.
