(L.A.) Erika Abeyta, 37, Died at a Freeway Off-Ramp

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old Hispanic female by a Santa Monica (10) Freeway off-ramp in downtown L.A.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Erika Abeyta of La Mirada, California.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 5:05 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on November 29, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs. This is considered an accidental overdose.

The decedent was found lifeless near the Maple Avenue off-ramp. Her body was reportedly burned and at the bottom of the off-ramp near some construction containers.

California records show her as being born Erika Katrina Pedrosa in L.A. County. Her mother’s name is Vega.

She was predeceased by her father Andrew Joseph Pedrosa who passed away in May 2020 and by her sister Desiree in May 1995.
