RIP ELNORA WHEELER (October 19, 1916 – September 15, 2001)

Decubitus ulcers are skin and soft tissue injuries that form as a result of constant or prolonged pressure exerted on bony areas such as the ischium, greater trochanter, sacrum, heel, malleolus (lateral than medial), and occiput. These ulcers can happen when a person is bedridden or otherwise immobile, unconscious, or unable to sense pain. Decreased blood flow to these areas leads to tissue damage and death.
