RIP ELIZABETH HARTMAN ( August 1, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, polydrug overdose.

  • Morphine is an opioid used for moderate to severe pain relief.
  • Nortriptyline and amitriptyline are tricyclic antidepressants used not only for depression but also for neuropathic pain and chronic pain syndromes. Sometimes, nortriptyline is preferred for better tolerability, and both can be combined cautiously.
  • Trazodone is an antidepressant often used for depression and insomnia, as it has sedative effects.
  • Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic typically prescribed for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

The three antidepressants—amitriptyline, nortriptyline, and trazodone—carry black box warnings for increased risks of suicidal ideation and behavior.
