Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 40-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred in a field in Lancaster.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Elena Kazanes.

Hair: Brown / Eyes: Blue

Height: 5 feet 8 inches / Weight: 110 pounds

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday.

LASD deputies responded to a field near 140th Street East and East Avenue E at around 11:40 a.m.

The decedent had just been cited by LASD deputies in Lancaster in October 2025 for exhibiting an imitation firearm in a threatening manner. At booking, her surname was misspelled as Kazaneas.
