(L.A.) Edward Chao, 36, Died From a Coke OD

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old Asian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Edward Chao.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease

Other Significant Condition: Cocaine Effects

RIP EDWARD CHAO (October 16, 1987 – June 8, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:08 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 22, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug.

This is considered an accidental overdose.
