(L.A.) Dean Welch, 57, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old Black male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Dean Welch.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Effects

RIP DEAN WELCH (August 29, 1967 – January 9, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 11:43 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on March 19, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
