RIP DARNELL STAVES (December 31, 1955 – December 14, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 9:11 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the COD ruling on February 13, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drugs.

Out of over 150,000 records made public, this may be the first we’ve seen that mentions xylazine aka “tranq.” Update: Results just came back in March 2024 from a case in July 2023. There are now two public death records in the county that mention xylazine.
