Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injuries
RIP DANIEL THOLL (August 12, 1964 – November 16, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:45 p.m.
The decedent jumped from a pedestrian bridge above a crowded area of the Long Beach shoreline, apparently on a drunken dare.
Investigators surmise he and a friend were drinking on the pedestrian bridge, which crosses Shoreline Drive, connecting the Convention Center plaza to Rainbow Harbor. They then challenged each other to jump from the bridge’s spiral staircase into the harbor waters.
