(L.A.) Damon Nixon, 31, Died in a Vehicle

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old male that occurred in a vehicle.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Damon Nixon and listed his race/ethnicity as Black / Latino.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Cocaine Toxicity

Other Significant Condition: Hypertrophic Heart Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 3:07 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 14, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, overdose.

The decedent was a security guard who was working at an eight-unit apartment complex.

He had used his own car and was parked outside the apartment complex with the air conditioning on.

A coworker who arrived to release him from his shift found the decedent lifeless.
