(L.A.) Craig Zimmermann, 49, Died on Christmas Eve

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 49-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence on New Year’s Eve.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Craig Zimmermann of Hermosa Beach.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Skelton.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 9:07 p.m.

The government investigator had initially posted this as John Doe #562 on December 25. The decedent was publicly identified by name on January 6.

Zimmerman had barricaded himself in his home after a domestic dispute. The house later caught fire and was engulfed in flames. Emergency personnel took one human body from the home. The family dog was rescued.

According the the news report in the video, the incident happened by Ardmore Avenue & 11th Street, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254.

The situation started around 3:20 p.m. when police responded to a call of unknown trouble and a woman heard screaming near the scene.

Police said the fire broke out at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Los Angeles County Fire Department stated they had been called to the scene as early as 3:30 p.m., for the initial call. The fire started in the garage but spread into the single-family home and the call was upgraded to a full structure fire response at 4:50 p.m.

The building at 1050 Ardmore Avenue is a townhome worth $2.2 million. The structure at 615 11th Street appears to be a multi-family home worth about $3 million.
