(L.A.) Chyler Paton, 17, Died at a Pool Party in Torrance

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 17-year-old Black male that occurred at a private residence.
The coroner’s office identified the teen as Chyler Paton.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Head

Torrance PD responded at 8:58 p.m. to the 23000 block of Huber Avenue by Sepulveda Boulevard.

The decedent was a recent graduate of Culver City High School.
Comments on Instagram suggest this was a Swimly rental and that guests were being charged 20 dollars ahead for use of the pool.
Swimply is an online marketplace that allows people to rent private swimming pools by the hour, similar to how Airbnb works for homes.
In August, the county announced a $20,000 reward offer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the killing.
