(L.A.) Chi Hon Giang Figueroa, 26, Died in a Median

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 26-year-old male that occurred in a median.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Chi Hon Giang Figueroa.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Intoxication

The archdiocese has indicated that the decedent may have been homeless.

In the 150,000 death records made public by the medical examiner, only seven have a median as a location of death. The first case was in the year 2016.

This particular death was ruled an accident likely because it was the drugs that precipitated the death. Drugs deaths are often considered accidents because of the assumption that the users did not intend to kill themselves.

The coroner-investigator did not fill out the “Race/Ethnicity” for the decedent, but when he was arrested in Riverside County in May 2020, police there listed him as an Asian named Chi Hon Giang.

Giang is a Vietnamese surname.
