The coroner’s office identified the man as Cesar Ruiz. Born in L.A. County.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday morning.

The decedent was driving a pickup truck when the vehicle crashed into an overpass on the transition from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway.

California Highway Patrol heard about the incident at 12:57 a.m.

LAFD had to use hydraulic tools to extricate his body from the wreckage.
