(L.A.) Carolyn Shepherd, 60, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 60-year-old Black female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Carolyn Shepherd.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Sudden Cardiac Arrhythmia

Cause of Death B: Acute Cocaine Toxicity

Other Significant Conditions: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Atrial Fibrillation, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Cachexia/Poor Nutrition, History of Alcohol and Tobacco Use

RIP CAROLYN SHEPHERD (August 6, 1964 – August 4, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on September 14, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

The government investigator had initially spelled the decedent’s surname as Shephard.
