Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 34-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred on the I-5 South by the Verdugo Avenue off-ramp in Burbank.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Brittani Elder. Born in L.A. County.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Cause of Death B: Pedestrian–Motor Vehicle Collision

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

CHP received a call at 7:10 p.m. about four vehicles stopped on I-5 South, including a Dodge Durango and a Cadillac SUV.

The decedent had apparently been trying to cross the lanes on the freeway when she was hit. The vehicles had stopped to try to help her, including at least one that maneuvered to shield her from additional injury. Witnesses initially thought the victim was a man.
