Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 51-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Brian Tawa.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Cardiopulmonary Arrest

Cause of Death B: Diffuse Anoxic Brain Injury

Cause of Death C: Acute Drug Intoxication (Fentanyl, Amphetamines)

Cause of Death D: Overdose of Illicit Substances

Other Significant Conditions: Opioid Use Disorder, Hepatitis C

RIP BRIAN TAWA (April 17, 1974 – July 26, 2025)

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
