(L.A.) Brendon Esfahani, a Baby, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a young “Caucasian” male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the baby boy as Brendon Esfahani.

Cause of Death: Multiple Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

The decedent was seven months old. He was hospitalized in critical condition from severe head injuries suffered in the July 16, 2003, Santa Monica Farmer’s Market crash where an 86-year-old motorist identified as George Russell Weller plowed his car into a crowded open-air marketplace, killing nine people, including the baby’s grandmother s 62-year-old Molok Ghoulian. They were part of L.A.’s Persian Jewish community.

The fatal incident fueled a national debate on safety risks posed by elderly drivers.
