RIP BENJAMIN PRINCE BRADLEY (August 1, 1977 – December 30, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 12:55 a.m.
The decedent was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire with LAPD in a Woodland Hills motel.
The shooting occurred at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday at the Vantage Point Inn at Ventura Boulevard and Baza Avenue. Officers from the LAPD’s Topanga Division responded to a report of an armed vandalism suspect in the motel.
Upon arrival, officers saw the suspect walking in the driveway towards the street. The suspect produced what appeared to be two firearms and fired at officers, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.
The suspect — identified Tuesday as Benjamin Prince Bradley — retreated toward a parked vehicle, but quickly returned with one firearm and fired again at officers. He then fled back into the hotel and a perimeter was established for a SWAT team to assist.
Upon the suspect’s supposed refusal to surrender, the SWAT team entered the hotel where they located Bradley lifeless at the bottom of a stairwell.
An AEA Harpoon double-barrel shot air pistol and an AEA model B&WT9 air rifle, both loaded, were recovered from the scene and booked as evidence.
