Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 29-year-old Hispanic female that occurred at her residence.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Amy Albeno Mendoza.
Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Albeno.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Stab Wound of Neck
RIP AMY JACQUELINE MENDOZA (November 23, 1993 – April 22, 2023)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 12:40 a.m.
The stabbing occurred in the 1200 block of South Hope Street.
It appears that 39-year-old Robert Hughes was arrested for this crime on May 26. His bail has been set at 2,000,000 dollars.
Hughes is currently housed at Twin Towers Correctional Facility (TTCF), at 450 Bauchet Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. His next court date is set for 9/18/2024. The LAPD detective in charge of this case is John D Meneses, who can be contacted at (213) 996-4144.
The three charges are murder, kidnapping, and burglary.
For reference, the criminal case number is BA51437601 and the victim’s surname is sometimes spelled in official documents as one word — Albenomendoza.

This is terrible. I hope they catch the culprit. Those that knew Amy know that she was a great nurse with a kind soul.
