(L.A.) Aliakbar Fayazi, 18, Died From Gunshots

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old male that occurred in a vehicle in the University Park neighborhood.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Aliakbar Fayazi and listed his race/ethnicity as Middle Eastern / North African.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 8:43 p.m.

According to Persian-language media, the decedent was the only son of Wahid Fayazi, a producer and host known in the local Iranian community.

LAPD said the shooting happened near the intersection of West 23rd Street and Hoover Street, just south of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway. The student had reportedly just left a restaurant with his girlfriend and was about to drive off in his car.

18-Year-Old Fatally Shot in University Park; Homicide Investigation Underway

The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide is investigating the shooting death of a teen Sunday evening.

LAPD officers responded to a shooting call with an ambulance requested at 6:46 p.m. on West 23rd Street and Hoover.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and LAPD officers arrived at the location to find an 18-year-old male who had been shot multiple times. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The suspect was described as a 25-year-old Hispanic male wearing a black jacket and blue pants who fled the scene in an Audi SUV with California license plate 9MRB489. He may have stood between 5’8″ and 5’10” tall and weighed approximately about 170 pounds.

It is unknown at this time if the shooting was gang-related or political retaliation.
