Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office identified the young man as Alejandro Alvarado.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Perforating Gunshot Wound of Torso

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

The decedent’s body was found lifeless against an embankment of the southbound 405 at the Haskell Avenue off-ramp or on-ramp near Van Nuys.

California Highway Patrol arrived on Interstate 405 at 7:36 a.m.

The government investigator from the Department of Medical Examiner did not arrive on scene until after 1:30 p.m.
