(L.A.) Alberto Gomez, 39, Died on a Sidewalk Encampment

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk encampment.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Alberto Gomez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Lidocaine Effects

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 9:39 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 8, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
