(L.A.) Abednego Adre, 20, Died at a Private Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 20-year-old Latino male that occurred at a private residence in Granada Hills.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Abednego Adre of Inglewood.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 5:36 a.m.

The decedent was shot dead by a homeowner during an attempted home invasion robbery in Granada Hills.

LAPD officers had been dispatched at around 5 a.m. to the 11400 block of Swinton Avenue on a call of “shots fired” inside a residence.

“When the officers arrived, they met with the homeowner … who stated he was inside his residence when three unknown males broke into his house,” police said in a statement. “The victim described the males as all wearing dark clothing, hoodies and masks.”

One suspect pointed a weapon at the victim, who told police he feared for his life and produced a gun and fired shots, striking one of the men.

“The victim then chased the remaining two suspects out of the house,” police said. “The suspects, who had arrived in a black BMW sedan, fled the scene without their vehicle.”

The wounded man, who died at the scene, was in possession of the victim’s property.

Video description: Armed home invasion suspects attempted to rob a home in the Granada Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles early Saturday morning resulting in a resident shooting and fatally wounding one of the suspects.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. in the 11400 block of Swinton Avenue. Preliminary information from authorities indicates that four suspects entered the home armed with rifles. A resident at the home shot and killed one of the home invasion suspects.

Remaining suspects fled northbound from the location. The resident involved in the shooting has been detained and was evaluated by firefighters at the scene.
