Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 27-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Brenda Moreno.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Hypovolemic Shock

Cause of Death B: Post-Operative Hemorrhage

Cause of Death C: Status Post Cesarean Section

Other Significant Condition: Post Massive Blood Transfusion Coagulopathy

Postpartum hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal death worldwide and is more common after cesarean birth than after vaginal birth. However, progression to severe hypovolemic shock and death is uncommon, particularly when hemorrhage is recognized and treated promptly.
