(L.A.) Alec Basmajian, 2, Died in North Hills

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a two-year-old male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the child as Alec Basmajian and listed his race/ethnicity as Middle Eastern or North African [sic].

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of the Head

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday night.

The decedent was one of four individuals found dead by gunshot inside a home at 16242 Londelius Street.

The shooter was the children’s mother who also shot her husband before committing suicide.

Basmajian is an Armenian surname associated with the diaspora in Syria, Lebanon and Turkey. The children’s father could speak Arabic.
