(L.A.) Kenrick Johnson, 32, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 32-year-old Black male who passed away in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Kenrick Johnson.

Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Buchanan.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Hanging

RIP KENRICK W. JOHNSON (September 9, 1971 – February 25, 2004)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 9:55 p.m.

The decedent was found hanged in his cell inside the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown L.A. on February 24, Tuesday. He supposedly used the bandage from his wounded leg to tie around his neck.

He was a suspect in the fatal shooting of LAPD officer Ricky Lizarraga on February 20.

According to a lawsuit filed in 2023, Centurion Chairman Donald Payne ordered the killing of Kenrick Johnson. The jail cell death was allegedly arranged as retribution for the killing of Lizarraga.

The case investigator was Brenda Shafer, the deputy medical examiner Dr. Solomon Riley.
