(L.A.) Sadera Sortor, 28, Died at an Encampment

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old Black female that occurred at an encampment.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Sadera Sortor.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Pulmonary Thromboembolism

Cause of Death B: Deep Vein Thrombosis of Lower Extremities

Other Significant Conditions: Severe Obesity, Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Methamphetamine Use

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

Chronic meth use can increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) by damaging blood vessels, promoting blood clotting, causing periods of immobility, and contributing to cardiovascular complications that favor clot formation and embolization.
