(L.A.) Yervand Mikaelyan, 85, Ended His Life

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 85-year-old “Caucasian” male that occurred at a residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Yervand Mikaelyan.

Manner of Death: Natural Suicide

Cause of Death: Sharp Force Trauma of Upper Extremities

RIP YERVAND MIKAELYAN (September 7, 1937 – February 7, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 12:48 p.m.

The decedent’s name appears to be Armenian.

Without access to the field investigation and autopsy notes, we cannot explain how sharp force trauma was ruled a natural death, instead of an accident.

UPDATE: By February 18, the deputy medical examiner had revised the data entry. The manner of death was changed from “Natural” to “Suicide.” The spelling of the decedent’s surname was also changed from Mikayelyan to Mikaelyan.
