(L.A.) Benjamin Belasco, 38, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 38-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Benjamin Belasco [sic]. Born in L.A. County.

STATUS: The decedent’s body has been released. Ruling by the deputy medical examiner is deferred pending additional investigation.

Manner and cause of death will be added to this page when it becomes available.

If the DME has ordered toxicological screening, the next public update may take three to five months.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

The government investigator indeed spelled the decedent’s surname as Belasco, and not Velasco.

There is a California birth record for a Benjamin Belasco born April 20, 1987, as well as a record for a Benjamin Velasco born February 20, 1988. Either one would be 38 years old on February 27, 2026.

Mother’s maiden name of the former is Hernandez; mother’s maiden name of the latter is Castañeda.

To correct the death record, the family must tell the funeral home to call the Department of Medical Examiner.
