Police responded to the area of East Spring Street and Lakewood Boulevard, where a 2008 Honda Accord hit a center median curb, lost control and crashed into an underpass support wall before bursting into flames.

A woman was found outside the vehicle and died at the scene. Three additional victims, two males and one female, were found dead inside the burned car. (The government investigator had initially stated that Amber Delgado had also sustained thermal injuries; this was later recanted.)
