(L.A.) Juan Escobar, 36, Died on the 5 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old Latino male that occurred on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Juan Escobar.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday night.

The decedent was fatally injured in a two-vehicle traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway in Sun Valley at 9:52 pm.

LAFD said there were five total patients, of which one was declared deceased on scene within the hour.

The coroner-investigator did not arrive until the next morning, at around 1:30 a.m.
