(L.A.) Katherine Basurto, 53, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 53-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Katherine Basurto of Baldwin Park.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Methamphetamine Effects

Other Significant Condition: Congestive Heart Failure

RIP KATHERINE ELIZABETH BASURTO (April 14, 1972 – November 10, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in mid-January, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
