Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 49-year-old White/Caucasian female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Catherine Cracchiolo of San Pedro.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death A: Acute Cardiac Dysrhythmia

Cause of Death B: Fecal Impaction

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

Fecal impaction leading to acute cardiac dysrhythmia in a person of this age is very rare.

A severe blockage of stool in the intestines appears to have precipitated the abnormal heart rhythm — possibly through nerve irritation, electrolyte disturbance, or a combination of both — resulting in a fatal outcome.
