Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 35-year-old Black male that occurred in a driveway.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Denovius Gist. Born in L.A. County.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Multiple Gunshot Wounds

RIP DENOVIUS DOUGLAS GIST (December 6, 1989 – August 23, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The decedent appears to have worked as a security officer.

Triple Shooting Leaves 1 Dead in South Los Angeles

Three people suffered gunshot wounds in a reported shooting in the 600 block of West 80th Street near Hoover Street, according to initial reports.

LAPD said that a 35-year-old Black man was found deceased at the scene. The other two victims, both men in their late 50s, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The 58-year-old male victim’s condition is unknown, and the other victim, a 57-year-old male, is in stable condition.

The shooting was reported at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood within South Los Angeles.
