(L.A.) Thomas Percy, 68, Died on the 57 Fwy

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 68-year-old Black male that occurred on the Orange (57) Freeway in San Dimas.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Thomas Percy.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

The decedent suffered from dementia and Alzheimer’s, and his family did not know how he ended up on the freeway. He was not homeless, despite the widespread speculation that he was. In fact, CHP had apparently put out a silver alert for him.

A man was fatally struck by vehicles while standing on the center divider on the Orange (57) Freeway in San Dimas.

CHP said the crash happened at around 10:00 p.m. Saturday on the southbound freeway near state Route 71.

The man, wearing a white shirt, had been walking slowly southbound in the slow lane prior to the crash. He may have earlier exited from a white Honda sedan.
